Cool NEW Feature To The Art Of Trading!!!!!

Starting monday i am going to implement a cool new feature to the ART OF TRADING service as i am always seeking to improve it and hopefully get you guys better trading results. I will be sending you guys charts with specific BUY/SHORT points: For example: I will email you chart patterns of a 1-3 stocks that i am very interested in and deem them high probability trades and i will give you a specific BUY or SHORT number with a specific stop loss: You can choose to either manually watch and enter these stocks and time your entry OR you could use BUY STOP orders to get you into the trade alerts once a specific price is touched the trade will trigger!!

See the CGA chart example of a trade we did this week. I will continue to issue trade management emails(raising stops or cutting non performing trades quickly etc). I will also email you a confirmation email that a trade did trigger. see the CYTK chart for what a new setup or potential trade alert would look like and also how previous alerts in CYTK could have looked like.

Art Of Trading Service Performance For Week 24

This is the 4th losing week with 20 winning weeks. The losses were tiny for the most part as i tried my best to manage a rough and choppy tape by playing it with closer stops or cutting non performing trades quickly. We did 13 trades: 9 losses, 3 wins and 1 flat.

I made some good calls on market direction but i didn't execute my trades properly this week. I felt a bit off in my timing and my entries were a bit off. Will make some adjustments in this department and hopefully turn in some better trades!!

It was not week i am proud of but i will strive on regaining my form next week!!

Most traders only talk about their winning trades and how much they made on a trade, that's great but today i wanted to touch on a very important issue: losing trades. If you are a trader then you need to expect losses. It's the reality of trading and it's the price of admission to this game we all love. Managing losing trades will determine your fate and staying power. Today i will not talk about my winning trades much, i already did enough posts about these. Winning trades work RIGHT AWAY....that's the bottom line. Perfect example look at HAR yesterday!! I saw the setup after a member called it out, took a look at it and i said "BUY THIS NOW!!" There was no question in my head HAR was going higher! see chart for details.

NOW ON TO LOSING TRADES: WHERE THERE IS SMOKE THERE IS FIRE!! WHEN A TRADE STARTS TO BUST YOU WILL KNOW IT, YOUR MIND STARTS TO QUESTION THE MOVE AND IMMEDIATELY AFTER YOU WILL GET AN UNCOMFORTABLE FEELING IN YOUR STOMACH AND ANXIETY STARTS TO BUILD AS PRICE ACTION STARTS TO GO AGAINST YOU AND THE PATTERN STARTS TO SLOWLY BREAK AGAINST YOU. AS THIS POINT YOU IN ESSENCE FIGHTING THE TREND AS TREND STARTS TO SHIFT ON YOU.

Time For Another Breather

Indexes look set to take a little breather after the big run they had last week. I am playing index weakness by playing VXX long. VXX is an ETF that mimics the VIX or increase in volatility. We went long VXX late friday afternoon for a trade into monday.

Prop Firms and Getting Around The $25K Day Trading Laws

Hi guys, i got this great email and response from another member about Prop firms as well a good way to get around the 25K issue. Just an idea, not investment advice or talking down prop firms.

The member writes:

I've been with 3 or 4 prop firms in the past but don't know if I would ever go with one again. The rules of the game have changed. In order to do things properly and not be guilty of illegally trying to circumvent the securities laws regarding customer accounts, prop firms now need to meet certain requirements, such as not having traders put up their own capital, not giving full payouts of trading profits, etc. Some firms try to finesse these requirements and can get into trouble if they aren't careful. You are also at risk of them going under with your capital as one prop firm did not too long ago. A safer way to get around the $25k day trading requirement might be to open 2 or more small accounts with different brokers and make sure you don't make more than 4 day trades within 5 business days in any one of them. Additional accounts can be IRAs, your spouse can have another, etc...
